SAM SPEAKS HAS A NEW EDITOR

Roland Friestad of Cameron Illinois has been named the new Editor of SAM Speaks, the publication of the Society of Antique Modelers. Roland will be taking over for long time Speaks Editor Bruce Augustus, who, after 11 years service in that job, is taking a well deserved break to build and fly his own models.

Friestad is an engineer, having worked at Piper Aircraft and as Chief Engineer for Bellanca Citabria. He’s run his own engineering company for many years. He’s done a good deal of work in collecting and digitizing plans of model aircraft. He’s also written a column for Home Machinist Magazine for almost 20 years.

The November December 2006 SAM Speaks will be Friestad’s first issue. Right now he’s working on transition and changeover issues with Bruce Augustus which involves moving publication and editing equipment from Idaho to Illinois, and changing the computer software used. All of us are hoping for, and expecting a smooth transition, but it’s going to be quite “a juggling act on the fly” to do this without missing a beat. If any team can do it, it’s Bruce and Roland.

Roland says, “I’m looking forward to becoming the Editor of SAM Speaks and will try to carry on with the fine job that Bruce has done.”

Friestad can be contacted as follows: Roland Friestad, Cardinal Engineering, 2211 155th Street Cameron, IL 61423 SAM@fullsizeplans.com .

Friestad invites comments or suggestions from any of the readers of SAM Speaks or visitors to this SAM Website concerning things they might like to see in SAM Speaks, or ideas for improvement.
